Shopping in South Devon
PLYMOUTH
The largest shopping centre in the Devon & Cornwall Plymouth
has a large pedestrianised area in which its Department Stores
and Shops are located. Within this area are many restaurants
and close by are the Theatre Royal and Pavilions Entertainment
Areas. Of particular note are the small shops in the historic
Barbican area where the National Marine Aquarium is based.
Movement between the areas can be by foot with well-developed
route ways linking the various parts of the city or by the
Tourist Open Bus that visits all the major attractions regularly
all the year round. Parking is well signposted and the city
has a number of Park & Ride Schemes in operation. Open
all year.
TOTNES
Principally a small market town with many niche craft &
art shops and small restaurants. Its prime position in central
south Devon has helped it develop as a centre for antique
trading. Open all year.
SALCOMBE
An excellent coastal location the development of Salcombe
has a maritime retail focus. Not cheap but certainly a wide
range of shopping for those with leisure in mind! Parking
is best achieved through the Park & Ride particularly
in summer!
DARTMOUTH
Similar to Salcombe but far larger and open all
year. Wider range of shops and restaurants but again use the
Park & Ride in the summer! |
